View ProfileWhat inspired you to pursue orthopedic sports medicine?
Sports and physical activity was a big part of my upbringing. I experienced firsthand the impact orthopaedic injuries can have not only on athletic performance, but one’s ability to derive happiness out of their day-to-day routine. I was drawn to sports medicine because it combines problem-solving, teamwork, and the opportunity to help patients recover from injuries so they can return to the sports and activities they enjoy.
What types of conditions do you most commonly treat?
I treat a wide range of sports-related and orthopaedic conditions affecting the shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, and ankle. This includes ligament tears such as ACL injuries, meniscus and cartilage injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral injuries, tendon injuries, fractures, and overuse conditions. I provide both non-surgical and surgical treatment, including advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive techniques, various types of shoulder replacements, cartilage restoration procedures, and arthroscopy of the hip joint.
What is your approach to caring for patients?
I personally find vertebral augmentation (to repair spinal compression fractures) and radiofrequency ablations for back pain to be particularly rewarding due to their excellent success rate in providing long term pain relief.
What advancements in sports medicine are you most excited about?
Sports medicine continues to evolve with improvements in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, biologic treatments, and more patient-friendly rehabilitation protocols. These advancements are helping patients recover more efficiently while improving outcomes, allowing many athletes and active individuals to return to sports and hobbies sooner.
What advice would you give someone recovering from a sports injury?
Be patient and trust the recovery process. Healing takes time, and following your treatment plan, including physical therapy and rehabilitation, is just as important as any procedure or surgery. Staying committed to your recovery gives you the best chance of returning safely to the activities you love.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through regular exercise including running, weight-lifting, and hiking. I’m a big fan of playing and following various sports including hockey, football, soccer, golf, and skiing. I also enjoy listening to music, playing guitar, reading, writing, watching movies, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends to include my wife and dog at home.
