Physician Spotlight on Dr. Allis Kim

How did you get interested in medicine (in general) and then in orthopedic surgery as a specialty?

I was initially “matched” into general surgery as my first choice. I had not had any exposure to orthopedic surgery. During my General Surgery training, I did a rotation for 4 weeks in orthopedics. I really enjoyed orthopedic surgery and the ability to help patients return to their activities.

What is your practice philosophy?

My focus is on the patient. I want the patients to have the best outcomes, whether that includes surgery or nonsurgical means.

I am excited about robotic surgery in orthopedics. I have found that my patients tend to bounce back quicker and have great outcomes.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy interacting with my patients.

What are your personal interests?

Growing up in Wisconsin, I am a Green Bay Packers fan. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband, three teenagers, and our dog and two cats.
