About

Elisabeth Gennis, MD, MPH, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a fellowship-trained specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of both pediatric and adult upper extremity conditions. Her areas of expertise include conditions of the hand and upper extremities such as arthritis, trauma, compressive neuropathies, tendinopathies, and deformity in both children and adults. She also treats general orthopedic conditions like knee arthritis, shoulder pain, fracture care, and infections.

Dr. Gennis takes an initial conservative approach to treating orthopedic injuries and often recommends non-surgical interventions before discussing surgery with her patients. She works with patients to explore treatment options like cortisone injections and physical therapy. Even when surgery is required, many hand and upper extremity surgical procedures are minimally invasive. Dr. Gennis enjoys helping patients with pain, mobility issues, and returning to everyday activities. Her treatment plans are tailored to best meet the needs of the patient’s lifestyle.

Dr. Elisabeth Gennis completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and a Master of Public Health at New York University in New York City. She subsequently graduated with a medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL. She completed her orthopedic residency training at Boston Medical Center in Boston and went on to obtain fellowship training in the hand and upper extremity at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

Dr. Gennis is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has a subspecialty certification for surgery of the hand. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. She has privileges at Lowell General Hospital and Emerson Hospital.
